It is Aulson’s unique combination of services which allow for the successful installation of Industrial Flooring. The Aulson Company's concrete division regularly and consistently employs surface preparation methods including shot blasting, scarifying, and diamond grinding, which when paired with Aulson’s experience in protective coatings materials these talents blend to form a sub-division with capabilities to seamlessly offer many specialized finishes and options of resinous industrial flooring. Our project experience and Aulson-Owned specialty equipment enables our team to pour down, rake out, pump, and power trowel virtually any flooring product specified today to meet a variety of industrial needs.
The Aulson Company is a SSPC Certified QP1 & QP2 Contractor performing complex industrial coatings projects in various settings such as Waste Water, Energy, Institutional, Food & Beverage, Manufacturing, Industrial and Heavy Civil settings such as Bridges and Highway. Aulson’s QP2 Certification further demonstrates Aulson’s proficiency in handling various types of industrial coatings projects which first involve the removal of a hazardous containing coatings, such as those which contain Lead, Asbestos, PCB’s, or Hexavalent Chromium. With the Aulson Advantage; Quality Control, Worker Protection, Environmental Protection and Waste Management remain a key focus and critical component to our Industrial Painting or Coatings Projects.
As a major service line, Aulson maintains an annual DOT prequalification in the Painting Structural Category. This DOT prequalification is another Aulson Advantage. As a DOT prequalified Painting Contractor, Aulson also demonstrates that we are an SSPC Member in good standing and that we maintain Certifications as an SSPC-QP1, QP2, & QS1 Contractor. Aulson’s SSPC-QP1 Certification is for Surface Preparation and Coatings installation on Complex and Industrial Structures, where the SSPC-QP2 Certification is for the removal of Hazardous Coatings. Aulson maintains this high level of qualification and certification through initial and annual performance audits, as well as individual training and recertification of supervisors and workers. Aulson utilizes a variety of specialized industrial equipment for the performance of bridge painting ranging from Bulk Abrasive Blast Pots, to Self-Contained Abrasive Blast Recycling Units, as well as Large Capacity Dust Collectors, High Volume Air Compressors, Vacuum Trucks, Modified Access Platforms and Rapid Deployment Equipment to allow for the successful completion of work on an off the roadway. Aulson additionally employs the use of various types of modified suspended access platforms and lifts to facilitate the performance of work to high angle limited access areas.
The Aulson Company self-performs asbestos abatement as one of our major service lines. We continue to provide effective asbestos abatement through meticulous and efficient preparation and execution with our trained personnel. Our personnel are experienced in a wide variety of abatement applications, and are licensed and trained in all applicable environmental, health and safety regulations. Depending on how and where asbestos was applied, it might not pose any risk to users of the building. However, many uses of asbestos can possibly pose hazards to Construction and maintenance personnel or building occupants during scheduled maintenance, construction and renovation projects. Through the use of a cross-trained work force Aulson is able to combined the strengths of our many service lines and provide a single turnkey resource for hazardous materials abatement and associated tasks such as Demolition. This is the Aulson Advantage.
The Aulson Company Owns and Operates a large fleet of Ultra High Pressure (UHP) water jetting pumps, with a maximum pump pressure of 40,000 PSI at a flow rate of 6 GMP. Through years of experience and testing these pumps can be set up to perform invasive and aggressive coatings and material removal as well as selective and less invasive surface preparation. The art of surface preparation via UHP Water Jetting is a delicate combination of Pressure, Volume, Proximity and Duration, and by balancing these we are able to perform surface preparation on a wide range of substrates. Through Aulson unique combination of skill and services we are able to provide a definite synergy when performing the removal of hazardous containing coatings and materials that are best served by wet methods, such as lead or asbestos removal.
The Aulson advantage expands to include specialized concrete repair methods such as Shotcrete. Shotcrete, sometimes identified as a specific material also refers to a concrete or mortar placement method, and is most often an all-inclusive term for both wet and dry process applications. As a method, Shotcrete describes when concrete (or sometimes mortar) is conveyed through a hose and pneumatically projected at high velocity onto a surface or substrate. Also referred to as Pneumatically Placed Concrete, it remains the process of delivering concrete via a pressurized hose delivered through a nozzle, and is typically used to eliminate the need for installing or constructing forms. Various types of mix designs and additives are available to improve or modify strength, durability, permeability and adherence, as well as placement and service life characteristics. Shotcrete can be placed with or without reinforcement, to a wide range of specified strengths and limitless shape possibilities.
Abrasive Blast Cleaning is the use of pressurized abrasive material (such as sand) forced through a hose and propelled at high velocity out a nozzle at pressures ranging from 90 to 110 psi. Abrasive media impacts the desired substrate for the purposes of coatings removal, cleaning or preparing the substrate. Sandblasting can achieve various levels of cleanliness, and when specified Abrasive Blast Cleaning is used to provide a high level of surface preparation and desired anchor profiles suitable for High Performance Coatings Systems. So when it comes to protective coatings, remember, surface preparation is everything. Through the use of Abrasive Blast Cleaning Aulson is able to perform various levels of surface preparation and employ a wide variety of abrasive cleaning medias to obtain the desired or specified surface preparation. Abrasive medias come in a wide range of types and sizes, and can be recyclable or non-recyclable forms ranging sand to steel, or crushed glass to walnut shells. Surface preparation for protective coatings installation is a critical step in the success of the project and requires a high level of Quality Control.
